Solid Waste is generated wherever the human life is a present and it becomes a part of daily lifecycle. Given India’s rapid urbanization and rising populace, waste management in Indian cities has now become a severe problem because of both environmental and aesthetic concerns. Studies indicate that only around 12% of the overall solid wastes are recycled per day leading to a colossal impact on the environment.
Under the aegis of the Smart City mission, it is imperative that ‘smart waste management’ measures are introudced at the municipal level which include processes like reduction & reuse at the source, scientific recycling process, dumping at designated landfills, etc.
